I don't read comic books. I've tried, but I have yet to find one with an art style I don't hate. I was the shoujo manga kid. I like ethereal beauty in the art I consume. Yuki Kaori is a goddess to me.
Because I don't read comics, most of the MCU's deviations from their source material has been lost on me, and I didn't care. I'd like to think, for the most part at least, that I still wouldn't care, as long as the movies/shows were entertaining to me. That's really my only criteria when it comes to movies - that I'm entertained.
I've tried to sit back and let the way they've depicted Loki just roll off my back. I've tried. Because I don't read comic books so I have no idea what they're working with from that angle... But Loki isn't a comic book character. He wasn't made up on the spot by some random artist. He's an actual deity. He's real. And what they've done to him is fucking insulting.
I have loved Loki all of my life. I've felt his energy, his presence in the world, and I love him. Before I understood the concept of religion, of worship, I loved him. I craved even the tiniest acknowledgement of his existence from any corner of the world. When they dropped his name in The Mask, I cheered. When they named a fallen angel after him in Dogma, I laughed and clapped. Every reference, every tiny indication that he hasn't been forgotten and abandoned, brought me such immense joy.
Naturally, I was over the moon when Thor came out in 2011. I was so happy to see Loki depicted on screen, truly depicted, not just mentioned or used as a vague reference, that I cried. I didn't even care that they didn't use his powers except the occasional illusion, because he was there! He was on screen, played by one of the most beautiful men I had ever seen, and finally, there was a chance for the rest of the world to see Loki as I always had: beautiful, chaotic, and misunderstood.
Every movie, I forgave his lack of magic use because I was happy to see him, to watch him evolve... and, yes, to watch Tom Hiddleston kick some ass. XD The capoeira (a fighting style I've been in love with since Only the Strong came out in the 90s) and the knife flipping, I just... UNF. There is no denying Tom's sex appeal, alright? XD I'm only human. Ahem. Anyway...
I also let it slide because I figured maybe Loki just wasn't that powerful, or inherently magical, in the Marvel universe. Maybe in a world of superheroes from all walks of life, the Norse gods aren't so special. Like I said, I've never read the comics.
They showed that their Loki was at least still cunning, still crafty and slippery, and I loved that. He escaped at the end of The Dark World, and I knew Ragnarok was coming, because that's how it goes. Loki and his son Fenrir escape from their prisons, and kick off Ragnarok.
Then Ragnarok in the MCU was turned into a campy buddy comedy that Loki was barely involved in, and my favorite two of his children were turned into... his older adoptive sister and her pet? What? But the movie was funny and entertaining in its own right, so I let it slide.
And then they killed Loki. And I ran out of forgiveness for this franchise. I ran out of excuses to make for their transgressions. And every episode of this series only makes me more angry. They show a tiny glimpse of Loki's potential, just a taste, just enough to let us know he can do so much more... and then they drop it and go back to playing his pain for laughs.
Marvel is treating their version of Loki the way the Norse gods treated the real Loki, and I am so done. The only reason I'm still watching is because I have friends here on tumblr who watch every week and then post about it immediately. It's the same reason I bothered to start watching at all. I hate this show. Episode 3 gave me a glimmer of hope, but 4 immediately killed it. No pun intended. I can't escape the chatter, so I might as well watch and form my own opinions before I read everyone else's.
The MCU used to be a little moment of joy that kept me going because my life pretty much fucking sucks. Ever since IW, it's just been more pain I don't really feel like dealing with. It's not entertaining anymore. It's just... there.

real name: hakudoshi / 白童子 / はくどうし
single or taken: verse dependent | taken in post-rebirth and white assassin (yakuza) verses
abilities or powers: as a demon born from naraku’s flesh, hakudoshi has several abilities and some of them are quite similar to those of his creator’s. he is capable of creating a powerful barrier which cannot be destroyed by inuyasha’s red tessaiga, using said barrier he is also capable of absorbing his opponent’s yoki based attacks and then redirect it back to them. like naraku, hakudoshi is capable of creating his own shoki (miasma) and of quickly regenerating his body right after it was destroyed, this is due to hakudoshi’s heart not being inside of his body therefore he could not die no matter how many times it was destroyed.
another of hakudoshi’s abilities is the telepathy, meaning that he is capable of reading other people’s minds like an open book; this can be prevented if someone with high spiritual power places a mental barrier around their mind. aside from this, he is also capable of telekinesis, with which he is able to move objects with his mind but he is not capable of doing that with really heavy things (demon heads, boulders, etc); hakudoshi can teleport himself and others to several places through the use of portals.
hakudoshi possesses a naginata as a weapon but it does not have any special abilities; despite it being taller than himself, hakudoshi mastered the use of this weapon with ease and often uses it to behead his targets.
after being reborn into a new body, hakudoshi retained most of these abilities aside from the shoki and the instant regeneration, as a demon he is still able to heal himself but it takes hours or even days depending on the size of the wound like other demons. the color of his barrier also changes, instead of being purple in color it is now blue and is not as powerful as the ones he used to be able to create, meaning that this barrier can be destroyed by inuyasha’s red tessaiga.

worst habits: mocking those he believes are inferior to him but in reality are not. hakudoshi has got a really big ego and believes himself to be invincible because he cannot die (through physical attacks), this ended up being his literal death making him careless about any other possibilities that could actually kill him. When he is brought back to life and after recovering his memories, he becomes more conscious of this habit and tries to change it, he doesn’t become humble but he no longer believes himself to be far superior to others.
role models: verse dependent
canon verse | hakudoshi has no role models, he believes himself to be his own master and therefore he is his “own” role model.
son of the phoenix verse | his role model is without a single doubt his adoptive mother, he respects, loves and wishes to be just like her.

post-rebirth verse | despite having been given a second chance in life, one that he promptly grabbed with all his strength to the point of changing most of the way he used to be, hakudoshi never thought he would actually find what humans like to call ‘love’, let alone thinking of children of his own (the only organ he has inside his body is a heart, therefore he cannot reproduce the ‘normal way’). that changed when his interactions with both kohaku and rin slowly intensified; initially he didn’t think a relationship between a demon and humans could actually work until they proved him wrong. through demon ways (mating) he is married to both but when referring them to others he will only refer the term ‘husband’, ‘wife’ or even ‘lover’ to those who know about their relationship; otherwise it is just ‘kohaku’ or ‘rin’, this is mostly to protect them. regarding children, he is extremely awkward with them especially when they are babies (he internally panics if a crying baby is placed in his arms, he is not capable of reading a baby’s thoughts). He cares about kohaku’s and rin’s children but doesn’t have them calling him ‘father’ or any other fatherly terms, though he also doesn’t correct them if they do so. when sumire was born (she was conceived via linking his demonic energy with rin’s human energy), he actually cried for the first time in his entire life though at first he wasn’t even aware of that.
modern days verse | hakudoshi has quite negative thoughts of both marriage and children born inside said marriage. because of what he saw happen with his parents, it made him view marriage as something unhappy and therefore any children born from it is automatically unhappy as well. he doesn’t think happiness can be achieved through marriage or any relationship in general.
white assassin verse | as a small child, hakudoshi witnessed the love and respect his parents held for one another and the way they acted with him and his little brother but even so it never really made him think of wanting something similar. after the death of his parents and the abuses he went through at the hands of his maternal aunt, hakudoshi very much stopped thinking of love in general, it stopped existing for him. That changed when his relationship with rin began growing into something different, at first he couldn’t explain why but he knew he viewed her differently from the other women he had been with (though he had only been with them in a physical way); he found comfort in her the same way she did in him. he wants to give her everything she desires. marrying her is a wish for the future that he is unsure they will have. children is a maybe but he doesn’t want them in this kind of life.
style preferences: in several verses, hakudoshi’s favorite color is without a doubt white and he very much prefers rich fabrics, he won’t wear just anything; he likes to wear practical clothing that doesn’t hold him back in his missions. funny enough, in his modern verses, hakudoshi wears dark clothing.
approach to friendships: he is never the one to approach nor is he easy to approach in that regard, he doesn’t really give the friendly vibe not even after being reborn. he slowly comes to care about those who are closer to him though chances are he won’t say it out loud; in his modern verse he doesn’t easily trust others so friendships with hakudoshi are even harder to happen.
thoughts on pie: he never tried pie before.
favourite drink: mostly tea.
favourite place to spend time at: mountains, forest or the training camps.
swim in the lake or in the ocean: lake.
their type: he doesn’t really put much thought in what his type is especially when his mind isn’t focused in that kind of stuff; he is more for the strong bond or connection first before those kind of feelings even start to develop, he doesn’t actively seeks for that bond.

To Have A Villain’s Quirk
SEVENTEEN: JEALOUS
Song: White Dress - Parachute
"After fifteen minutes to pick teammates and talk strategy, twelve cavalry teams are preparing to go head-to-head!" Mic's voice rang through the stadium as the timer went off, catching Kaida's attention as her team prepared, hoisting up Shinso to be their rider. In that time, Kaida still couldn't figure out what was going with with Ojiro and the student from 1-B, but as he commanded them, it clicked. He was using his quirk. But why wouldn't he use it on her? Maybe there was a limit? She didn't even know what kind of quirk it was but it was some type of mind control. "Come on, everyone get your hands in the air! It's time for an arena-thumping UA battle royale! Let me hear ya scream!"
As the teams gathered around the battle field, Kaida carefully gripped the boys leg, smirking. In the extra time they had left, it gave Kaida the chance to fuel back up, her power back to one hundred percent. Sure, she was still worn out from the previous round, but the amount of flesh she ingested put her back on top to be able to deal with her classmates. Bakugo and Midoriya would be the easiest ones to deal with, seeing as she has somewhat trained with both of them, and she at least knows the fighting styles of the rest of her class.
"Okay, all you first years! I hope you're happy with your chosen teams! Let's get this party started! One final countdown before the game starts!" As Mic started the countdown from three, she felt a small tap to her head, her looking up at Hitoshi.
"Defense." It was just one word but she knew what he wanted.
"Begin!" Quirk activated, four tails swirled around her team to protect them, two other tails watching their backs. Just like every other team, they were after Midoriya, picking up the pace until they took off into the air thanks to the support course's equipment. With every team distracted, Kaida took the opportunity to try to steal headbands along the way, using her extended arms to her advantage. Her team was mostly passing the others by, taking headbands when they could. They weren't too focused on getting to Midoriya now like some of the others were. It was only the halfway point, and their best bet was to really wait it out, with how many points they had at the moment. They should be okay. With the other teams getting frozen over, Shinso was happy to take some of their headbands away.
"Only one minute left! Todoroki has cornered the ten-million-point team and is poised to seize the ultimate prize! At least, that's what I would have predicted five minutes ago!" Todoroki cornered Midoriya's team? There's no way he'd be beaten in strategy by them.. Izuku's too smart for his own good sometimes. There's just no way.. "Unbelievably, Team Midoriya's been able to keep away from the ice master for the last half of the game!"
"Wo-ho-ho! What just happened?! That was one big blur!" Her team came to a stop, looking in the direction of the ice walls. "Holy smokes, folks! Why didn't he show that super speed in the preliminaries?" That had to be talking about Iida? She was dying to know what happened, as time was almost up. "Insanity! This entire game was just turned completely on its head! Todoroki's team has the ten million points, and Midoriya's team is suddenly left with nothing at all!"
"What..?" A couple of tails disappeared from shock, Shinso quickly tapping her head again.
"Focus."
"Ah, right." But she didn't need to.
"Time's up! And with that, the second round is officially over! Now, let's take a look at who our top four teams are!" She let the boy down, stepping aside as they all stared up at the leader board, fingers crossed. "In first place, Team Todoroki! In second place, Team Bakugo! In third place is Tetsute- Wait, what?" Some of the cameras were met with two very confused boys, and the smirks of Kaida and Hitoshi. "It's Team Shinso? When did they come back from the dead?"
"Thanks for all your help." The boy said, walking away from the group while Kaida crossed her arms, turning to look at Ojiro. He was staring, terrified, after the other.
"And in fourth place is Team Midoriya!" So, he did advance! She grinned up at the cameras, seeing the boy in question crying a fountain. "These four valiant teams will advance on to the final round! Now, let's take an hour lunch break before we start the afternoon festivities! See ya soon!"
"Uh, hey.. Hiyama..?"
"Hm?" She turned her gaze to her blond teammate, tilting her head in question. "Mashi, are you okay?"
"What.. happened?" It was almost as if he was scared.
"We, our team made it to the finals. Do you not remember?"
"I.." He glanced away from her, her following his eyes after Shinso. "I just remember him asking me to join.. then nothing." She looked between the two before looking down.
"Hm..."

"Hi-To-Shi~!" The boy in question heard footsteps pounding behind him, getting closer down the outside corridor. He shuffled to a stop as he turned, only to be greeted with the female he had teamed up with during the cavalry battle, her waving away and catching up with him. "Hey!"
"Ya know it's rude to use first names with people you don't know well?" She only tilted her head, coming to a stop just a few feet away from him.
"Really? But, I thought you called your friends by their first names?"
"I don't recall us being friends." She had a warped concept of friendship, seeing as she called most of her classmates by their first names, and they never once complained, so she figured that made them friends. And that Hitoshi didn't stop her when she gave him a nickname.
"Oh. Hm.." She glanced away for a moment, a small frown coming to her face. "Your quirk.. it's some kind of mind control, isn't it? That's how you got Ojiro and the boy from 1-B on your team."
"You put that together from very little evidence?" He had a brow raised in question, a small smirk trying to form. She just shrugged.
"It's a gift. Anyways.." She looked away, watching a few small rodents run up and down the trees. "How come you didn't use it on me? Wouldn't that have benefited you more?"
"Did you want me to?" She snapped her gaze back to him, shaking her head quickly and taking a step forward.
"No, that's not wh-!" What was happening? She couldn't move, or say anything.
"Because I didn't need to tell you what to do, you already knew. But now, go away." She felt her body, turning around to head back to where she came from.
'No, no, no! Stop! What are you doing?! I wasn't finished talking!' She tried to yell out but she didn't make a sound as she disappeared back into the building. Once around the corner, she felt his quirk stop working, her being able to move freely. She gasped and ran back to where they were talking, only for him to be gone. "Dammit!"
She wandered around the grounds, weaving through the crowds and looking at all of the booths and festivities they had set up. It was pretty amazing. She had never really gone to a festival, let alone a school festival. So, walking around, she distracted herself with the chatter and the laughter. It was so cheery, light hearted. Though it was a happy atmosphere, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being followed. There were so many people, it had to be her imagination. Right?
"Excuse me!" Kaida jumped as a hand clamped around her arm, head swiveling around to meet wide golden eyes. "Hi! You're one of the first years that are moving onto the finals round, aren't you?"
"Ah.. yeah, I am!" She'll admit, Kaida was a little freaked out. A girl comes out of no where and won't get out of her personal space, almost fawning over her. She guessed that her expression was enough for the girl to let go, giggling a little.
"I'm sorry, am i making you uncomfortable? My bad~! I'm just a big fan! Your quirk is so cool! And you're really pretty, you remind me of someone. What was your name again?" The blonde bounced a little, tilting her head with a toothy smile.
"Oh, I'm Kaida. Hiyama-"
"Hiyama. Hiyama. Oh! Like Kaori Hiyama! That's who you look like!"
"That's my mom, you know my mom?" She was a little shocked, she had never heard anything from her mom about any kids she might've known. Kaori was mostly a stay at home mom, but normally went out every other day to do shopping or the like. Her side of the family was never really in town, and she never knew her dad's family.
"That's your mom?! I see her in town all the time! She's super nice and always gives me snacks if we run into each other!"
"Ha.. yeah, that kinda sounds like her." She scratched the back of her neck, slipping a hand into her pocket. The pretty girl in front of her grinned, nodding away as she clapped her hands.
"We should definitely hang out sometime, I think we could be really great friends!" She looked behind her before grabbing Kaida's hands in hers. "I gotta go but hopefully we'll see each other again! Bye-bye lil' sis!"
"Wait but I don't even know.. your.. name.." Kaida called out to the girl but she had already disappeared into the crowd. She sighed, playing with her hair as she turned to go back to the stadium. The lunch hour was almost up, and she didn't know what else to do. What could she do besides wait? She could always find Shinso, she wasn't done talking with him. Before she could do that though, she could here Present Mic's voice all the way from where she was, saying how it was almost time for the last round. Kaida sighed once again, quickly finding her way back to the stadium. Only to be met with an astonishing sight that made her cover the giggles erupting from her.
"Wh-what are you guys wearing?" The girls from 1-A turned and looked at her, completely embarrassed. Yaoyorozu whined, covering her face.
"It was the stupid pervert's little scheme.. we all fell for it.." Kaida gently patted the taller girl's shoulder, walking with them over to the tournament board to determine who they'd be fighting.
"Don't worry Momo, we'll get him back. I promise." That seemed to reassure the team of girls, most of them glaring at the little grape boy and his electric side kick. All of the first year students gathered in front of the platform where Midnight stood, watching as she picked up a box and walked to the front. Standing beside Momo and Mina, she heard some of her and Sero's conversation about the finals but mostly ignored everyone.
"Come closer and draw lots to see who you're up against. Then enjoy the pleasure of the recreational games before we start. The sixteen finalists have the option of participating in those activities or sitting out to prepare for battle. I'm sure you all want to conserve your stamina. I'll start with the first place team." She started to walk before Ojiro put his hand up and caught everyone's attention.
"Um. Excuse me. Sorry. But I'm withdrawing." Kaida gasped and she moved around everyone to rest her hand on his arm.
"Mashi.. What are you doing?"
"Ojiro, no way!"
"But this is a rare chance for you to get scouted." Midoriya and Iida chimed in, turning around to face the boy.
"It just wouldn't be right. I barely remember anything from the cavalry battle until the very end of it. I... think it was that guy's Quirk." The maroonette frowned, turning her eyes just a little to the left of them. Shinso. He just turned away. "I know this is a great opportunity. I wish I could take advantage of it, but my conscience won't let me." Midoriya told him to think about, making the tail boy a little defensive, Kaida dropping her hand from his arm. "Everyone gave their all in round two, but I was just someone's puppet. No way. I don't wanna advance if I don't even know how I got here. It wouldn't be fair."
"You're making way too much of this! Just kill it in the finals and prove you should be here." Hagakure's pom poms fluttered about as she waved her arms, Mina joining in to comfort him, but it was all in vain.
"That's not it. I'm talking about my pride here. I refuse to give that up. Also, why are all the girls, except Hiyama, dressed like cheerleaders?" The girls all groaned, asking themselves why he had to throw that in. Kaida looked up in time to see the other boy, that was on the team with her, withdrawing as well.
"This sort of talk is incredibly naive, my boys. That turns me on!" Hiyama shuddered a little. She got that Midnight was an R-rated hero.. but this was a high school game.. "Shoda! Ojiro! You're withdrawn!" Taking a deep breath, she smiled at Mashirao, nodding.
"I'm sorry it came to this. I'll fight for you then. You deserve some wins." He looked down at her, a thankful smile taking over his features as he nodded back.
"Thanks, Hiyama. It means a lot."
"Now, let's see... We'll have to move up two students from the fifth-place cavalry team so we have enough contestants." The 1-B team of girls decided against filling in, since they were frozen the entire time, rather giving the spots over to another team. "And so, Tetsutetsu and Shiozaki have advanced to the finals! Take a look at the bracket, my dears. These are your opponents!" Kaida gasped and looked over to the pinkette who was grinning away at her.
"I can't wait to melt your butt!" She yelled at the maroonette, making her laugh as she cracked her knuckles with a smirk. Her eyes changed, signaling her Quirk activating which made Bakugo snort.
"If you can even touch me, I'll throw you out of bounds without a problem."
"Look, the battle of the Raccoons." The girls growled and turned to the ash blond.
"What did you say, Sparky?!"
"Don't fucking call me that!"
"Okay! Let's press pause for a momentary interlude! Before the battles begin, it's time for some pulse-pounding side games!" Mic quickly interjected, getting everyone excited. Kaida looked at the girls before sighing, catching their attention.
"Hey Momo?.. Wanna.. Wanna make me one of those uniforms?" The group gasped, Jirou shaking her head quickly while Mina and Hagakure grabbed her hands.
"You would really do that?!"
"Well, it's not fair that all of the girls got humiliated but me. So, let me join in in this madness." Her face was already turning red but she just waved it off. It wasn't fair that they all had to deal with this dumb prank. Momo was quick to make the uniform, quickly handing it over while the girls shoved her to the changing rooms. Oh, she was going to regret this. They called out the first game, Scavenger Hunt, her shaking her head as she changed while catching a glimpse of the scar she had gained from the USJ attack. Normally, her wounds would've healed without one but they were usually just paper cuts and the such.
Kaida took a moment to actually take the look in, twirling a little. She couldn't help but feel... giddy, being able to do something almost considered fun. She left the changing room, after folding her clothes neatly, putting them to the side, and walked out to the girls. Mina turned and jumped happily as she saw the girl. "Oh my god, Kai, you look so pretty!"
That exclamation caught everyone else's attention and she could see some students of the other classes, and even her own class, falter and trip up some. It made her giggle while Hagakure handing over an extra pair of pom poms to her. Ochaco, Mina, Kaida, Hagakure, and Tsu started to cheer their class on. She could see the looks on the students faces, Mina pointing it out and convincing Kaida to do something with her and Hagakure.
"Uh.. are you sure this will encourage them..?" The maroonette's face was turning red from the suggestion, Jirou hearing what they were planning and pulling Kaida aside.
"Don't fall for it, it's super embarrassing!"
"But.. it'll help our classmates keep going, right?" The girl sighed, covering her face.
"You're too nice, Kaida.."
"Kai-Kai! Come on! They're coming this way, let's cheer them on!"
"Ah, okay!" She joined the two girls, pulling the poms in front of her chest and looked at the girls to follow their lead. With a big smile, she danced along with the girls, moving her hips the way Mina taught her as they spun around, kicking up and cheering for 1-A. She could see Uraraka hesitantly join the girls, only because she wanted to help cheer, and Tsu was soon behind. It was a little embarrassing but she saw the looks on Denki and Eijiro's faces. It looked like the encouraging was working! When their little dance came to an end, she looked towards one of the entrances, seeing a certain purple haired boy watching. Making eye contact, she grinned wide and waved. She could see a small smirk come to his face as he turned away. That was a good sign! Maybe they'd be friends yet.
* "We didn't even have to convince Hiyama to wear the uniform, she did it all by herself!" Mineta whispered over to Kaminari, a few of the other males joining in with the staring.
"Yeah, but she knows it was your idea. You're gonna die, dude." Sero interjected. The little boy was nearly crying out of happiness.
"This was so worth it!"
* "What the fuck are you wearing, Red?" The girl in question turned to face the blond coming towards her, his natural scowl on his face. A big smile came to her face.
"Oh, Katsu! Hah, well.. Mineta pranked the other girls, and I felt bad that I was the only one that didn't have to deal with it. So, I thought i would join in." He rolled his eyes and threw something towards her, her quickly catching it and looking at the fabric I her hands. Her gym jacket? "Kat-"
"Just put it on." He said, starting to walk away before stopping. "The pervert and a few others are drooling over you, cover yourself up."
"Are you jealous?" She couldn't stop the words coming out of her mouth, but his reaction made her laugh, his cheeks tinted pink.
"I'm not! Fuckin-! Whatever!" He quickly walked off to the waiting rooms, head down as he grumbled to himself. She watched him leave before her eyes traveled to the jacket in her hands, slipping it on and burying her face in her hands. That was.. oddly sweet of him.

The Sex Contract - Chapter 25 [Final]
Genre: friends to lovers au / friends with benefits / mature content / romance / angst
Characters: Shim Changmin x Kaia Ashton (OC)
A/N: Due to the overwhelming request I have followed your encouragement to bring back one of my older stories. This was back in a time where OCs were everything and writing one chapter in each main’s point of view was the trend. I hope that even though I have edited this drastically, that you can appreciate this story comes from my older style of writing. I definitely still read this often and find it enjoyable so I hope you will too.

Chapter 25 – Changmin’s POV.
“No way!”
“Come on Changmin, it makes sense to!”
He shook his head, reaching out for the pen within Kaia’s hand and taking it from her. “No way are we doing this!”
“Why not? It worked in the past.” She pouted for a moment and then grinned, darting under his arm and racing over to her desk. Changmin chased after the British woman, trying to grab the new pen within her grasp.
“And how well did it work out for us huh?”
Kaia smiled. “Look at us now, we’re together, doesn’t that mean something?”
“It means we got lucky this time around.” Changmin eyed the pen and tried to get it again. “Besides for a while there we were both miserable because of the contract. Why on earth should we create another?”
“We were miserable because we both fell in love and didn’t confront the issue, not because of the contract itself,” Kaia corrected pointedly and dashed back to the pad of paper on the kitchen bench. Changmin followed her, resigning to her point momentarily.
“Fair call, but it caused a huge mess. I’m not going to sign another contract with you.”
“Not even in marriage?”
Changmin’s eyes nearly fell out of his head. “That’s a bit of a leap forward. We’ve been dating two months, not two years, Kai.”
“So in two years I should expect a proposal?” she teased and Changmin shook his head rapidly, her infectious laughter filling the room. “Teasing you is just too easy these days! And everyone calls you the witty, sarcastic one!”
“Guess I’ve met my match then,” Changmin stated, moving closer to the caramel haired woman and yanking the pad away. “Let’s allow our relationship to just travel its own course yeah?”
“You were the one so keen for a contract last time. Besides, I’m not just dating any guy but Shim Changmin of TVXQ. Give me back that pad!” She yanked it from his hand and began writing furiously, intriguing Changmin.
He leaned over her shoulder and gaped. “No spending time with female celebrities? How is that fair? It’s part of my job to be around them!”
“Should I remind you of Kaori Kimura or have you forgotten her?”
“Kaia, that was one incident and she and I have no connection anymore!”
“Fine, no accepting fake relationships for the purpose of career opportunities then!” she corrected the first stipulation on the paper and Changmin decided to add his own, smiling as he wrote it down. “I’m not allowed to hang out with male celebrities? I still have my part-time job at SME Min; surely I’m allowed to have interaction with them.”
Changmin shook his head. “Strictly teacher-student only.”
“Fine, but there are other men out there other than SM idols.” Changmin groaned at her confidence and took the word celebrity away from her clause. Kaia rolled her eyes.
They continued to add more and more ridiculous stipulations onto the piece of paper, all outdoing the previous one. Eventually, they were laughing too hard to continue, Kaia resting against him as she tried to settle her laughter. Changmin pulled her into his arms, lifting her up onto the bench so they were closer in height. She smiled, leaning down to capture his lips and Changmin savoured the taste of her, knowing he would never get sick of kissing his girlfriend. Even though it was early days into their actual official relationship, they already were too accustomed with each other to have issues that would make him think this was going to be a short term arrangement. He needed no contract to tell him to avoid the other female species in the world. As cheesy as he had become, the only woman that Changmin was interested in was already in his arms. Though he decided there was no harm in keeping Han Ye Seul as a fantasy interest.
Kaia moved away from him and turned back to the paper, ripping the top sheet off and then picked up the pen again. She began to intently write once more and for a few minutes, Changmin waited to see what she had put down. Handing it to him and hopping off the bench, Kaia waited for his response.
“To always be honest, to talk out our issues, to not get jealous of the people within our lives, to continue doing everything we did as friends, to enjoy the physical elements of our relationship, to always love each other and eventually get married and start a family.” Changmin looked up from the list at the expectant woman. He smiled. “Is this our new contract?”
Kaia nodded. “If you can handle it.”
Changmin placed the pad back on the bench and shook his head. “You forgot something.”
“I did?”
“Yup, but don’t worry I’ll add it on.” He then scribbled it down, stepping aside so Kaia could see.
“To tell the world we’re dating?” Kaia blinked a couple of times. “I thought we decided to keep it a secret for now, because of my new job at Vogue Magazine. People might see my position gained as a result of being with you.”
“That was won on your own hard merit working at Korea Star. Minah was right to get you writing under your real name, it opened the doors into real editorials for you.”
Kaia nodded weakly. “Do, do you really think we should do it?”
“Well, it’s not like I’ve ever proclaimed to my fans that I want them to love me forever.” Changmin grinned. “In fact, you’ve always pointed out to me that I need to treat my fans better, how better than telling them the truth?”
“You still don’t get what I mean by that!”
“Don’t you want to be like Abby?” Changmin asked, and Kaia’s eyes flashed in recognition. “She was dating Junsu for six months and now it’s out. Do you want to wait until then? That’s another four months of trying to schedule things in private places and not get caught in the same car. People have been following me more since Kaori too.”
“You bring up Junsu so easily,” she observed and Changmin smiled. “It is tempting to get it out in the open I guess. Your management will have a field day though.”
“Manager hyung will smooth it over, he has a thing for you, remember?”
“Speaking of SM, I need to get to the office for class.” Kaia stepped away but Changmin grabbed her wrist. “What?”
“We haven’t signed and dated it yet.”
Kaia laughed. “I thought you didn’t want another contract?”
“I like this one. It’ll be easy to keep to.”
“We thought the last one was too in the beginning.” Kaia laughed and signed it all the same. Changmin took the pen and scrawled his signature, chuckling as Kaia slapped his arm. “Not again Changmin! I told you last time to stop signing it like an autograph! Now we won’t have enough room for additional clauses!”
“I don’t plan on making any more,” Changmin told her and kissed her forehead. “Come on, I’ll take you into work.”
“You’re not wasting any time with the last stipulation,” she replied and they headed out to his car, driving to the SME building in comfortable silence. They continued together to the classroom, Changmin’s eyes darting towards a door on the opposite wall. A smile grew on his lips and he yanked Kaia back to it, pushing her inside before locking the door behind them.
“Really Min?”
Changmin pressed her up against the wall and kissed her briefly. “Maybe we could try and keep it on the low a little longer.”
“You like this room a little too much,” she mentioned, though her hands were already unbuttoning his shirt. Changmin grinned before kissing her again; feeling excitement in the room where everything had truly begun. If he had read all the signs back then, Changmin would have realised he was already falling in love with Kaia the first time they had sex in here. It was funny just how blind he had been to everything back then. With his newfound clarity on everything, Changmin was certain that whether they kept their relationship under wraps for much longer or not, this room would always be one of creating memories.
Strangely enough, Changmin was also anticipating meeting all the clauses of the new contract with Kaia. It held its own challenges, but he was certain keeping to it would be easier than other aspects in his life. He liked that he now had a different future ahead of him to share with the woman he wanted to protect.
He wasn’t just Shim Changmin, one half of TVXQ anymore. He was a man in love with the best type of woman - his best friend.

Sterre Meets Some Jedi
This is a little fic trade I did for the lovely @auroraguardian where their star wars oc interacts with mine!! This was a blast to write tbh Sterre is a cutie
Sterre was supposed to be delivering a small shipment of Mandalorian Iron and Kyber Crystal to and even smaller repair shop in the capital of Shili; Corvala.
Supposed to being the key word in this scenario, as they had been stopped in their delivery by what looked to be a band of pirates. Now they were off track and behind schedule, having to land on one of Shili’s moons.
Sterre snatches up their fixer-upper lightsaber and tucks it into a pocket. “Just in case.” They mutter to themself. They send out a quick broadcast recording to the shop that had paid them for this job, telling them Sterre had been stopped and would likely be late upon delivery. Once that’s done, they wipe a bead of sweat off their forehead and quickly head out to meet the delayers.
As they step off their ship, they see that four ships have landed around them. Out of the largest ship saunters an elderly Weequay man dressed in a red and grey striped outfit. ‘He seems to be enjoying himself,’ Sterre thinks as he walks up to them with a bounce in his step.
Once the man gets within ten feet of Sterre, he lifts a pair of dusty goggles from his eyes and looks around calmly before his gaze falls onto them. Once he’s looking right at them, his calm gives way to joy, and he spreads his arms in a friendly open gesture.
“My friend!” he calls out.
Sterre tenses, despite the friendly tone, and eyes him warily. “You are no friend of mine. What do you want? Why did you make me land when you could’ve opened your comm link?”
A few more people dressed just in similar styles as their apparent leader step out of the surrounding ships. Yep, definitely pirates. Their leader chuckles.
“I like your fire, little friend! I can assure you, Hondo wants no quarrels with you today! Take our meeting in good faith!” He walks a bit closer, hands still raised in an appeasing stance. “What are you called, friend?”
Sterre’s wariness had turned into a glower as Hondo had been talking. “I told you, you’re not my friend. Now why did you stop me?” They look straight into his eyes, challenging.
“You were being followed, my friend.” Sterre’s glare deepens. “And not by me, might I add! Hondo does not let his friends be followed by unmarked ships!”
Just as he finishes his declaration, a sleek black ship jets past their party overhead, its left wing aflame. Both Sterre and Hondo stop their conversation to whip their heads upward, following the trajectory of the craft. The rest of Hondo’s crew follows suit. The ship speeds by right over their heads, and Sterre watches as it crashes not even two hundred feet from where they’re standing.
“Uhhh…” Sterre looks between Hondo and the crashed ship, not sure whether or not to trust him.
They’re still deliberating (though they’re still leaning heavily on “just get the fuck outta here”) when another ship lands between Sterre’s ship and the crashed one. A tall hooded figure jumps out and turns to the crashed ship, standing and watching for a moment before holding a hand out to it. Suddenly, the ship explodes, making everyone jump about five feet in the air. The only one not affected by this is the figure, who merely lets their arm drop, and after another moment seemingly examining the wreckage, they turn back towards the group, making their way over.
“So…” Sterre nervously eyes Hondo. “Which one was following me?”
“Ah,” he squeaks out, his brown skin visibly paler, “the ship that made the big explosion, I believe.” Sterre looks back to the figure. “However, I am not entirely sure who this newcomer is. Perhaps another friend of yours looking out for you?”
Sterre shakes their head, staying silent.
As the figure comes up to them, the hood falls away, allowing for a bright red ponytail to come spilling out of it. The newcomers face identifies him as a male humanoid, and the deep scar under his left eye makes Sterre somehow even more nervous than they already were.
“Hondo!” he calls. …maybe Sterre isn’t the one who has to be nervous here.
Hondo chuckles again, although this time its higher pitched and quicker. Yep, he’s nervous. “Ah, Xyak! Old friend! My, you…haven’t aged a day!”
“It seems you have, Hondo. But that’s beside the point of our meeting here today. Tell me, why did you stop this traveler?” The newcomer-Xyak-retorts, coming up in between Hondo and Sterre.
“Ah, well, you see, my friend here-“
“Not your friend!” Sterre calls out.
“-was being followed by that slimy looking unmarked ship! So, I thought I would bring it to their attention.” Hondo finishes valiantly.
Xyak hums. “And I suppose you couldn’t have informed them over comms?” He inquires coyly. “Or perhaps you wanted to ground them and distract them with your extravagant words while a few of your hands relieved them of their cargo.” He turns to Sterre while Hondo sputters, giving them and their ship a once over before nodding to himself. “It seems Hondo is aware of your rare cargo. Don’t let him try and charm you, he’ll always win if you let him talk.”
“Now hold on, Xyak, old friend, I have nothing but pure motives for helping out this new friend-“
“I am not your friend!” Sterre growls out in frustration.
Xyak sighs. “Hondo, in all my years of knowing you, plus all the stories Ahsoka and Hera told me of you, there was never one instance where you did something out of the goodness of your own heart. There was always something to gain, no matter what happened to anyone else around you. Now, do you want to stick to this false story?”
Throughout his little speech, Hondo grows more and more twitchy. “I always made sure my friends survived our meetings, a-and had escape routes as well!”
At this point, Sterre is just about ready to bolt, the longer they stay around Hondo, the sketchier he becomes.
Xyak shakes his head. “Hondo-“
There’s a clang from Sterre’s ship, and they whirl around, gasping. “No one’s supposed to be…”
They trail off as two of Hondo’s pirates come flying out of Sterre’s ship looking like they’ve been grabbed by the scruffs of their necks. But…there’s nobody holding them? As they get closer the force that was dragging them becomes apparent. The air shimmers between the two pirates as a small Twi’lek girl slips into existence. She throws them in the dirt at Hondo’s feet before moving to stand by Xyak.
She tilts her head up, staring Hondo down. “Hondo.” She states. Xyak looks greatly amused by her antics.
Hondo seems to be at a loss of words for a moment, but then, “Ah, we meet again, Kaori!” he tries.
“Unfortunately.” She retorts. “I found these two-“ she gestures to the me at Hondo’s feet. “-rifling through their-“ she nods at Sterre this time. “-cargo hold. Care to explain, Hondo?
He opens his mouth. Closes it again. Then, “Ah, w-well-“
“Perhaps that ship following them was one of yours as well,” she states with a sharp edge in her tone. “It certainly came from the system your base was in.”
Hondo sputters, “What? No, I had nothing to do with-“
“Don’t lie, Hondo.” She snaps. “Come clean, and we’ll let you return home.”
He stays silent, and Sterre can tell he’s debating whether or not to lie.
He lets out a little shriek as a hyperdrive on one of his ships explodes, turning it to scrap.
“Or we could always leave you here.” Xyak says calmly, arm raised as if ready to strike. “We don’t want to strand you Hondo. But we will.” Another hyperdrive goes up in flames, and as Sterre stares at Xyak, they realize he’s the one destroying the machines.
Xyak’s arm sweeps over to the third ship. “Well?”
“The ship, it wasn’t mine!” Hondo exclaims. “But, the men, ah, yes yes they were under my orders. We spotted the portage insignia on your tail, and the ship quickly after. I am sorry little friend, truly I am! At least you’re not being followed anymore, happy endings all around, yes?”
Hondo gets shoved a bit by an invisible force…the Force, now that Sterre thinks about it. These people are…
Sterre is brought out of their thoughts by Hondo. “All right all right, I’m leaving, not to worry. Oh, little friend! I hope when next we meet, it will be under more pleasant circumstances! Farewell!” And with a short bow, he begins backing up anxiously.
“Two ships will be enough to carry all of you.” Xyak states as he glances at the rest of the crew filing in. “There’s a good mechanic in Corvala, if you’re looking to get these fixed.” He points to the ships he destroyed, then up to the planet hanging above their heads. “I would not go there this week, however. She seems to be in a sour mood that her shipment is late. You wouldn’t want to be on this woman’s bad side. Have a good rest of your day, Hondo.”
Hondo nods quickly. “Yes, yes, until next time, old friend. Kaori.” He bows his head once more, this time in her direction, and she scoffs and rolls her eyes. Hondo smiles and turns to follow his crew.
Once they’re all on their ships and leaving the atmosphere, Kaori turns back to Sterre, who does a double take. Her eyes are a bright piercing orange that stand out starkly against her dark purple skin. How did Hondo look this girl in the face without fainting? “You’re lucky we were with the Fulcrum when you sent out your distress.” She studies you for a moment, and a faint smile graces her lips. “I’m Kaori, and that is Xyak.” She introduces, pointing to the redhead. Xyak seems to be…shuffling the broken ships around. With his gestures. Huh. “What’s your name?” Sterre gets wide eyed and looks back at Kaori.
“Uhh, Sterre. Is he..?” Sterre gestures, trying to mimic Xyak.
“Using the Force?” Kaori finishes for them. They nod. “Yes, he is.”
“You’re Jedi, aren’t you?”
“Kaori studies them for a moment. “If I tell you, will you swear on your life not to tell anyone?” She leans in real close, orange eyes never leaving Sterre’s.
They nod. “Yes, I won’t tell anyone, I swear. I don’t really have anybody to tell, anyway.
She narrows her eyes for a moment, before backing up and softening her gaze. “Xyak is, yes. I’m just his Padawan.”
Sterre just stands there awhile, taking it in. Wow, real Jedi. I mean, there was proof that they existed, I have a freaking junker lighsaber! I- they stop for a second, and turn to Kaori who looks a little concerned.
“Are you oka-“
“Do you have a lightsaber??” They blurt out.
Kaori stares at them with her eyebrows raised. “Um, well yes, I do. So does Xy. Why?”
“…Could I see it?” They want to see if their own is in decent shape by comparison.
“I…sure? Why though?” Kaori is staring at them like they’d grown a second head.
Xyak walks up. “Did you ask to see her lightsaber?” They’re blushing now, embarrassed.
“W-well I uh…yes I did.” They swallow. “Sorry I just.” They pull out their stolen saber. “Wanted to know if this was in decent shape? It works just fine, but it’s not like I could take it anywhere to have it looked at just in case, so…” they avoid eye contact.
The two Force users look at each other, shocked, before returning their gazes to the saber. Xyak gently reaches forward and lifts the hilt out of their grasp. He brings it up to his level and examines it, turning it over in his hands. “Well, general inspection lets me know that it’s old, but up to standard for lightsabers. I’d have to take it apart to inspect it fully.” He glances up at Sterre. “Where did you get it?”
“Just, in some trash.” They shuffle anxiously.
“Where was the trash?” Kaori pipes up.
“…a Hutts’ palace.” They admit, avoiding eye contact.
“A Hutt? How did you even manage that?” Xyak exclaims, eyebrows raised.
“I uh. Was a… guest in their house for awhile. Forceful guest. But I escaped with the help of that saber.” Sterre gestures at it.
Kaori hums, impressed. “I’ve dealt with the Hutts before, they’re a temperamental lot.”
Xyak hands the saber back to Sterre. They take it, and hesitantly say, “Thanks for looking at it. And saving me, actually.” They frown. “How did you know I was shipping for the Fulcrum?”
Kaori smirks. “We were with her when she got your distress call. She asked if we could go save her cargo and her pilot. She could actually take a closer look at that saber if you wanted.”
Sterre hesitates, then “She wouldn’t tell anyone of this, would she?”
Xyak laughs. “Depends on whether or not she likes you. But you’re already working for her, and not spilling her secrets, so that almost guarantees discretion.” He gestures to your ship. “Follow us, we’ll take you to her. At the very least she’d like her materials.”
Sterre blinks, then what he’s said kicks in and they’re jolted until action. “Oh uh, yeah of course. I’ll be right behind you. “They tuck the weapon back into their pocket and nod to the two watching them. They nod back and the three of them split off to get on their respective ships.
As Sterre sits down in the pilot seat, they take a deep breath and all the tension bleeds out of their body. They rub they’re hands on their face and groan, “What have I gotten myself into??”

Notes for Storming the Castle, Chapters 1 & 2
Hello to my lovely AkaFuri readers! I just posted Chapter Two of Storming the Castle, so here are my notes for the fic, finally. (It turns out the delay was a good thing, because my plans for the fic changed a bit!)
About the Length/Format
Storming the Castle story should be novella length, around 30K~40K. (Fast Train was 85K, so about half that length or less!) The fic has two main parts, one half of the story for each visit. I was going to divide them into six chapters, whenever I switched point of view, but... That would’ve made two really long chapters, and four short ones? (Plus a longer wait for the long chapters!) So instead, there will be eight shorter chapters. The PoV will go like this:
Furi --> Akashi --> Akashi --> Furi --> Akashi --> Furi --> Furi --> Akashi
(Ch. 2 & 3 are basically like a single chapter from Akashi’s PoV, while 6 & 7 are a single Furi PoV. There will also be a short Furi PoV epilogue at the end.)
... Hopefully it will be obvious why I did this once I post more of the story? Either way, at least the chapters won’t take as long to write as Fast Train. XD (For anyone who liked the longer chapters, the third story in my AkaFuri series should be closer to Fast Train’s length!)
Cultural & Miscellaneous Notes
Here are some notes for Chapters One and Two! Mostly about Japanese culture things. A lot of anime fans are probably familiar with most of this, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to write it, in case anyone was curious or wanted details.
(Also, I should mention that I stole a lot of the things in this fic from my sister’s experiences studying and teaching in Japan, so thank you, @spinelstar! I’ll probably talk about my favorite example of that in my notes for Chapter Three.)

On Sleepovers
Generally speaking, Japanese kids don’t spend the night at their friends’ houses as often as kids in Western countries do. Some of it has to do with space; many Japanese houses don’t have a lot of room for guests, and privacy is limited. But also, it’s a bigger deal for guests to visit in general! That doesn’t mean overnight visits never happen, but there isn’t the same “sleepover culture” that I experienced growing up in the U.S. So Akashi being unsure of the “rules” of sleeping over has partly to do with his upbringing as an Akashi, and partly to do with how it isn’t as frequent in Japan. (Which is why Midorima isn’t sure how to answer his questions, and why a guy like Takao--who don’t care as much about politeness--would just wing it. //laughs)
On Bringing Gifts/Temiyage/Omiyage
On that note, there are Japanese customs for house visits in general. If you visit someone’s home, it’s polite to bring a gift. It’s also polite to insist the gift isn’t very good, and for the recipient to refuse it, sometimes multiple times! The recipient may also wait until later to open it. Here’s a rundown of some fairly common visiting etiquette, and more about gift-giving is here and here. In the fic, Akashi gives Furihata’s mother his gift right away, as it’s intended to be refrigerated. (What it is will come up in Chapter Three!)
Visiting gifts are called temiyage. There’s another type of gift called omiyage, in which Japanese people who go on a trip pretty much anywhere are expected to bring back souvenirs for their friends and family. So basically, there are tons of occasions where Japanese families receive gifts! Often a Japanese home will have some of these items on display, or even stuffed in a closet. (The tendency for this to cause clutter is one reason why food gifts are usually preferred.)
On Zaibatsu
I won’t go into this too much, but Akashi’s family in KnB is pretty clearly supposed to be a zaibatsu. The real-life reality of modern zaibatsu is not the same as in popular fiction... But in anime at least, zaibatsu are incredibly powerful old families who are ridiculously wealthy, and head up massive conglomerates. An example of a real-life conglomerate that started as a zaibatsu is Mitsubishi.
On the Genkan
There are different styles of houses and apartments in Japan, but basically all of them will have a genkan! This is the space right at the front door where you take off your shoes. It’s often lower than the rest of the floor, and you leave your shoes inside. Then you walk around the rest of the house in socks, and/or wear slippers.
It’s not always practical for the host family to provide super comfortable slippers to their guests (it’s more common to have a basic pair, if that), but since Furi and Akashi are so close in size, I thought a lending situation would be cute. ❤️ (Or maybe I just wanted to make a “perfect fit” joke because fairy tales, but uh anyway. XD Though I guess it isn’t really Cinderella, maybe more like The Prince and the Pauper? //laughs)
(Also, for anyone curious, I generally picture the Furihata house as looking something like the third photo in this blog entry, or the sixth photo on this page. Both give you some idea what a typical Japanese house looks like!)
On Summer in Japan
The fic takes place in mid-July of their second year, during the start of summer break. So I tried to incorporate a lot of things that are associated with summer in Japan! Mid-July is when the rainy season ends. The rainy season in Japan is unbelievably humid. Hydrangeas bloom during that time, like the ones outside Furihata’s house. Then after the rainy season comes the really hot summer. (I do not recommend visiting Japan in the summer, personally? I have done it, and... yeah. So much sweating. XD) Japanese coping mechanisms include AC units (usually a wall unit in a room with a remote control), fans of all kinds, chilled barley tea, and food like watermelon and chilled soba noodles. Another Japanese item with summer associations is a glass wind chime. (As in this emoji! --> ����)
On Shichi-Go-San
One thing that was specifically Japanese about the photo album Furihata’s mother showed Akashi was the photo of the coming-of-age event Shichi-Go-San. This is a sort of ceremony for Japanese kids that happens first when they turn three, and then again when boys turn five and girls turn seven. It’s a really popular time to take pictures, because the children get dressed up in traditional clothes and go to a shrine for a blessing. They also get candy called chitose-ame, which they usually carry around in a long, colorful bag. It’s supposed to bring them property and long life. (”Chitose” stands for a thousand years.)
(If you haven’t seen little kids doing this in person before, I urge you to do a Google image search for “shichi-go-san” and prepare for your brain to melt because it’s pretty much the cutest thing in the known universe.)
On Furihata’s Family’s Names
It’s probably painfully obvious, but I’ve been dying to write about Furihata’s family for forever! The Furihata surname itself means “below the standard” (via this post!), which is... not the most auspicious name? //laughs But it’s why I always pictured them as a very typical, “ordinary” sort of family.
Kouki (光樹) has the kanji for light in his name, and the full translation in the above post is “establishes brilliance.” I always thought that was such a fitting name for him! I wanted his family’s names to sound a bit like his, while also being common names, and having meanings that fit their characters. For his brother, I tried to pick a name that matched my take on his personality, and I came up with Kintarou (金太郎). Which means “golden first son” (and is also the name of a popular folk tale character!). Furihata’s mother is Kaori, and Furihata’s father is Yoshio. Here are the kanji I picked for them:
香織 = Kaori, “fragrance weave” (shares a kanji with the name Shiori because I’m a mean person, also I like to headcanon that they would’ve gotten along)
良夫 = Yoshio, “good man” (also can be read “agreeable husband” //laughs)

To Have A Villain’s Quirk
THIRTEEN: HOLDING YOU BACK
Song: Alive - Battle Tapes
Groaning at the pain in her abdomen, Kaida slowly opened her eyes to the bright light overhead of her. She hissed and turned her head away from it, seeing another person at the door to the room. "D..dad..?" She faintly called out, making the tall man quickly turn from who he was talking to.
"Kaida! Oh, good to see you actually awake." He came and sat beside her, leaning on the bed as she tried to sit up, only for him to gently push her back down. "No, no, you need to rest up a little more. You're still in the process of healing. That hit took out a good chunk and is still piecing itself back together. You should try to eat a little though, it should speed it up." He sighed and brushed her hair out of her face, a small smile gracing his lips. Kaida closed her eyes for a second before going into near panic mode.
"Dad. Does mom know?" He hesitated before looking away.
"Well, it was on the news.. and the Principle specifically called us because the special circumstances surrounding our family's quirks."
"Oh no." She groaned, turning away as she buried her face in her hands. "She's never gonna let me come back to school again!" He just chuckled, continuing to brush her hair back.
"I wouldn't say that, I'm sure if you convince her enough, she'll let you." He joked, only to jump when a throat was cleared behind them. "Kaori!" He looked at her, grinning nervously as he stood and backed away from the bed. She raised a brow at him, arms crossed with a small smile on her face. She rolled her eyes before they landed on the hospitalized girl. The smile dropped, being replaced by a worried frown.
"Oh.. my baby girl.." She came forward swiftly, gently placing her hands on either side of her face. She took in the scrapes and bruises on her skin, still not completely healed. It was obvious she was using all of her energy to heal her abdomen.
"Hi mom.. I'm sorry."
"Sweetie.. why are you apologizing? You fought for your life and got out alive." She said, Takeshi coming back to sit on the girl's other side. "If anyone is apologizing, it should be those ruffians that hurt you and attacked the USJ." The two looked at their daughter, a smile on their faces as she nodded.
"So.. does that mean I can keep going to UA?" Kaori sighed all dramatically, looking away while her husband shook his head at her.
"As much as I would rather you go to a normal school, where you'd be more safe, I know there would be no keeping you away from your new friends and training to be a hero. Can't have you becoming a vigilante, can we?"
"Did you just joke?" Kaida asked her mom, eyes widening a little bit before laughing at her moms shocked expression.
"Is that bad? I thought it would lighten the mood.." The three laughed, continuing their talking while Kaida tried to convince her mom to let her stay. Her mother kept dragging it out in a joking manner, only making the girl whine in protest. They were there for a while longer, Recovery Girl swinging by the extra room to check on her and help as much as she could. Soon she was sent home to rest for the night. 'No training!' Her mother made that clear. Just not until she was healed up. In the morning, UA had given the day off. Like they wanted their students to have a break after the attack. But it was still pretty tough to relax. So, after spending the day with her family, she felt like she was ready to go back. Of course, Kaori was still hesitant to let her go back to school, but eventually gave in when Kaida was sure she was going to be late. Takeshi was soon out the door behind her, already running behind for his job. Two peas in a pod, those two. As the door closed, Kaori walked back to the living area, catching her cell phone lighting up. She sighed as she looked at the message waiting for her.
'From: Mr. Giri' 'Mrs. Hiyama, here is the new list of groceries.'
A whole list followed that message, making her sigh once again, more frustrated. Perhaps she should get to work.

Kaida huffed as she finally reached the campus grounds, holding her still bandaged side as she walked. It felt like she was cramping but she could work through it. She just needed to take it a little slow. She wasn't late, thank god, seeing as class hadn't even started yet, but when she opened the door to the class, she was nearly tackled down by a certain pinkette. "Kai! You're okay! We had no way of knowing if you were alright 'cause no one was allowed to see you!" Ashido yelled out, thick tears streaming down her face as Hagakure came bounding up, taking Kaida's hand.
"I'm happy you're okay! Kirishima said you got hurt really badly!" Before she could speak, the red head in question was already joining them at the door.
"How are you able to come to school like nothing happened?! You took a heavy hit!" Kaida started to wave her hands a bit frantically, something she picked up from Midoriya.
"Hey, calm down, guys! Don't worry, regeneration's apart of my quirk! I'll be completely healed in no time. At least there's not a hole through me anymore!" She joked, only for the look on everyone else's faces to look horrified, Mina crying out again,
"You were completely impaled?!" She nearly sweat-dropped at the situation before they finally let her take a seat, Hagakure sitting behind her and continuing to talk with her. Iida came busting in not too long after, telling everyone to take their seats even though they were all already sitting down. The chatter continued before the mummy himself shuffled his way into the room. No one understood why Aizawa was already back, but he wasn't going to let anyone fuss over him today.
"My well being is irrelevant. What's more important is that your fight isn't over yet." This caught everyone's attention. Our fight? Does that mean that they were going to have to fight more villains? Kaida wasn't even all the way healed yet, but that was life. Being thrown at her in every direction. She was lucky her mother had become more lenient. "The UA Sports Festival is about to start."
"Ugh! Why would you scare us like that?!" Kaida released the breath she was holding, wincing a bit as it caused her abdomen to tense up. She frowned a little as Kirishima jumped up and yelling to kick some ass, but it was pretty funny in itself. Of course, Kaminari stepped in, shutting him up, and Kaida took that moment to chime in.
"Is it really such a good idea to hold the sports festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?" Some nodded while Ojiro continued.
"They could attack once we're all in the same place." Aizawa's muffled voice came through, obviously already tired of dealing with them.
"Apparently, the administration thinks this is a good way to show the threat has been handled and our school is safer than ever. Plus they're beefing up security compared to past years. This event is a huge opportunity for all students at UA. It's not something we can cancel because of a few villains." Kaida could understand, she had was the event every year, so fascinated by everyone's quirks. She was kind of like Midoriya in a way. Taking in everyone's fighting styles. Although, her main fighting style was something she was sure no one had ever seen before. All thanks to her mother.
Mineta's terrified voice came from near the back of the classroom, asking why they couldn't cancel it. Only for Izuku to explain. "Our sports festival is one of the most watched events in the entire world. In the past, everyone obsessed over the Olympic games. But then Quirks started appearing. Now, the Olympics have been drastically reduced in terms of scale and viewership. For anyone who cares about competition, there's only one tournament that matters. The UA Sports Festival."
"That's right! And top heroes everywhere will be watching." Kaida said and Yaoyorozu nodded, joining her.
"This is where you get scouted."
"Sure, unless you're dead." Mineta said, shrinking away. No one really paid him any mind though as Kaminari continued.
"They're right, though. After graduating, a lot of people join pro agencies as a sidekick."
"Yeah, but that's as far as some people go. They miss their chance to go indie and stay eternal sidekicks." Jirou started, looking over to the electric type. "Actually, that's probably where you're headed. You're kinda dumb." Kaida was sure she saw the boys spirit break a little bit.
"It's true that joining a famous hero agency can garner you greater experience and popularity. That's why the festival matters. If you wanna go pro one day, then this event could open the path for you. One chance a year. Three chances in a lifetime. No aspiring hero can afford to miss the festival. That means you better not slack off on your training."
"Yes, sir!"
"Class is dismissed."
* The next few classes were a breeze, Kaida starting to actually work a little harder. Aizawa was right. She couldn't afford to slack off. Whether with training or school. If she wanted to become a hero one day, she needed to be better prepared. So, as lunchtime rolled around, she was going through everything in her head about what she could do better. And how she could fight against everyone in the room. She needed the advantage. She jumped at Uraraka suddenly getting so fired up, blinking in surprise. She sighed and looked down at her things, playing with her ponytail. How could she prove she was a good choice? She'd probably get knocked right out first thing. She glanced to the side as she saw a certain blond getting up and leaving. Her eyes widened as she watched him, getting a thought before quickly getting up and walking out the door to go after him.
"Katsu, wait!" She called out, stopping the boy in his tracks as he half turned to look at her, glaring.
"What do you want, Red?" She fidgeted a little bit, working up her courage. "Spit it out, damnit! I don't have all day."
"Train with me!" She squeaked out, meeting his widening eyes. He stared at her for a moment before chuckling darkly.
"Pfft, what?"
"Will you train with me?" She took a deep breath before continuing. "You're one of the best fighters in our class, and I think I could learn a lot."
"Tch, why don't you fuckin ask stupid Deku? You guys are all buddy buddy after all."
"I need someone who's more experienced and I don't have to worry about accidentally hurting them. We both can take a beating, as we saw with the USJ attack." She took a step forward, still keeping a respectable distance between them. "Please, Katsu, I wouldn't ask you if I didn't think you were stronger and more experienced than me." He rolled his eyes, facing her fully now.
"So, is flattery the only thing you know, because it won't get you anywhere." He growled out, but his eyes seemed to soften just a little, no longer glaring but still looking down at her. She stared back, a more determined look on her face as they stayed quiet. Eventually, he looked away, huffing. "Fine, whatever. Just don't waste my time."
"Thank you, Katsu!" She bowed slightly as he turned to walk away, muttering as he left. She stood up straight with a smile on her face, heading back to the classroom, to enjoy her own lunch. Just a few strips of the flesh she was sent every month. It happened to double thanks to her enrolling in UA. It helped keep her stamina up and helped heal her faster. She should be completely healed by tomorrow.
She hummed softly to herself, ripping out a piece of paper to write down her number for the explosion boy, just a little in awe at the fact that he even agreed. Kaida nearly fell from her seat as Mina scooted herself halfway onto the chair, sharing it as she wrapped her arms around the other. "Heyyy, whatcha doin! Is that your number? You gonna give it to someone? Can I have it, too!"
Thanks to Mina's loud mouth, the other girls heard, along with a few of the boys. So, her number got handed out to the girls, in which Mina went ahead and put them all in a group chat, Kaminari, and Kirishima. Her phone continued to buzz with the several messages she was getting from everyone. She sighed, assigning names to each of them before she forgot. Finally, when she was left alone and everyone was distracted, she managed to slip the piece of paper into one of Katsuki's folders, hoping he'd find it at some point. * The end of the day finally came around, and Class 1-A were all getting ready to leave when they found that the door and hallway were completely blocked by other students. Kaida adjusted the bag on her bag, looking at the crowd. She watched Bakugo walk to the door, stating the obvious that no one else could see apparently.
"They're scouting the competition, idiots. We're the class that survived a real villain attack." Well, he was right. She followed his move, walking up the crowd with him. He had sent her a text in the middle of class, calling her an idiot for just putting the paper where he probably wouldn't have found it but that she got lucky. He said that they would have to train this afternoon, even though she said she had to be careful because of the wound. He just said he'd try not to mess her up too bad. So, that meant something. He stopped in front of them, head held high, Kaida stopping just behind him and peeking her head around him.
"At least now you know what a future pro looks like. Now move it, extras." Kaida looked at him, surprise etched into her face as she smacked his arm.
"Katsu!" Behind her, Iida was calling him out. Bakugo only glanced down at the girl, giving a small 'tch'.
"So, this is Class 1-A." Kaida for her eyes from the blond, looking for the source of the voice. "I heard your guys were impressive, but you just sound like an ass." She watched a purple haired boy make his way to the front of the crowd, staring Bakugo down. "Is everyone in the hero course delusional, or just you?" Everyone in 1-A flinched at the insult as Bakugo began to get pissed off, and Kaida made a point to grip his arm to keep him from charging. "how sad to come here and find a bunch of ego maniacs. I wanted to be in the hero course, but like many others here, I was forced to choose a different track. Such is life."
"I didn't cut it the first time around, but I have another chance. If any of us do well in the sports festival, the teachers can decide to transfer is to the hero course. And they'll have to transfer people out to make room." Kaida frowned, making eye contact with the boy. "Scouting the competition? Maybe some of my peers are, but I'm here to let you know that, if you don't bring your very best, I'll steal your spot right from under you. Consider this a declaration of war." Kaida could feel the tension between the this boy and Bakugo, the glares almost causing static. Another boy from the next hero class came to start yelling at them, too, and that's when it really hit her. This whole school hates them. He jerked his arm from her hand as he started walking away, leaving her there while Kirishima tried to tell him to talk to them. He only brushed it off and said he was going to beat them. She frowned as she watched him walk off, looking at the crowed in front of her. Making eye contact with the purple haired boy, she quickly bowed.
"I'm so sorry about him! Sadly, he's always an ass so don't take it too personally." She gave him a hesitant smile, starting to move around him and go after the other, only to stop at his words.
"I'd be careful who you have as friends. They just might be the ones holding you back." She turned half way, a smile still on her face.
"Maybe.. or they just might be the ones pushing me forward." She waved to the boy, nodding slightly as she turned back to follow Bakugo. They walked mostly in silence, both still not believing that they actually agreed to train together. And they had two weeks to get their shit together.

This was back in a time where OCs were everything and writing one chapter in each main’s point of view was the trend. Chapter 23 – Changmin’s POV.
“You didn’t know that she was going to be one of the hosts tonight?”
The reflection in the mirror shook his head and Changmin let out a whine at Nayoung. “Why does she have to be here today?! I hate being stressed before a performance!”
“Wait a moment,” the stylist said and then tilted her head to the side. “Are you telling me that you and Kaori aren’t consensually dating?”
“Noona.” Changmin gaped at the woman and then caught her eye. “Have I ever dated someone in this manner before?”
“No, but I thought that it was because she’s like a Goddess.”
He chuckled. “More like an absolute witch.”
“This is a publicity stunt then?” Changmin nodded slowly. “Hey, this is too much. Your fans are going to be so angry if this gets out-”
“Has it yet? I’m not about to compromise the company by not putting enough effort in.”
“Changmin-ah.” Nayoung leaned over his shoulder and smiled at their reflection. “You’re going to tell noona everything after your performance, aren’t you?”
“Why would I?” Changmin challenged and she slapped him on the shoulder with the hairbrush she held. “Ow! You can be so abusive sometimes!”
“You don’t want me to bring up Kaia again, do you?”
Changmin rolled his eyes. “Didn’t you just do that?”
“Well then.” She smiled, knowing she had found a weakness. “I’m expecting to know everything. I am, after all, like a real sister to you.”
“More like a real pain in my side,” he muttered under his breath, getting up from the seat he had been relaxing in and then heading towards the door to the dressing room. Just as he reached it the door swung open, hitting him in the head. “Ow!”
“Oh, Changminnie!” Kaori cried and he groaned loudly, her voice causing more irritation than the door had. “Why were you behind the door?”
“Perhaps because I was about to exit it?” He sat down on a nearby couch, grasping his head in his hands.
“Uh, excuse me are you staff?” Kaori’s voice was thick with fake kindness and Changmin glanced up to see Nayoung slightly stunned by the Japanese woman. She nodded awkwardly. “Could you leave us alone for a moment?”
“Uhhhh-”
“Whatever you have to say, can be in front of her.”
“Please?” Kaori smiled brightly and Changmin cursed inwardly when Nayoung nodded again numbly and left the dressing room. He sighed, wishing he could think of a legible excuse to leave the room too. Kaori then turned to him, folding her arms across her chest.
“Don’t you have any MC duties? It’s a busy job to have.”
She laughed happily. “Aw looking out for me Minnie?”
“Hardly.”
“I needed to tell you something important.” She smiled and checked her appearance in one of the mirrors against the wall, irking Changmin that she once again was taking her time for dramatic effect. “There is a girl here that I’ve met before in Japan. She stood out to me because she’s not Korean.”
“So?” Changmin looked at the woman casually. “We do have foreign fans.”
“She’s a reporter. I just met her backstage.” His blood chilled as he realised that Kaori wasn’t telling him this information to be kind. “Who is she?”
Changmin coughed and attempted to stare at her unfazed. “Didn’t you just answer your own question when mentioning she’s part of the press.”
“Is she VIP for TVXQ information?”
“I guess so, she’s a staff member of SME,” he continued, getting up and going over to get a bottle of water from the table across the room. Changmin willed Yunho to get back from his meeting with their dancers. Anything to make Kaori leave him alone before she got him stuck in a bind.
“It’s funny, do you always follow staff members when out in the public eye too?” Changmin snapped his focus towards the woman, who examined her manicure for a moment before connecting her unnaturally large eyes upon his. “You didn’t think I realised? Do you not understand my interest in you Changmin? I chose you because I knew there would be a challenge involved. Now that there’s a girl in between us, well I’m really put out.”
“I have nothing to do with her.”
“Oh but I think you do. And I won’t hesitate to make it difficult on you either.” The door swung open and let out the vicious tension within the room. Kaori placed a warm smile on her face towards Changmin’s manager and Yunho, bowing lightly. “Have a good performance, I’ll be watching from the press section in front.”
She then left the room, Yunho examining Changmin’s expression. He frowned. “You okay?”
“Uh, yeah.” He tried to nod. “As best as I can be with a run in from the witch.”
“Changmin you really don’t know just how lucky you are for her attention,” his Manager stated and laughed to himself.
Luck was definitely something Changmin was lacking with Kaori Kimura.
TVXQ took to the stage towards the end of the festival, the wait making Changmin incredibly nervous. On four occasions, he had wanted to run out and find Kaia, hoping that he could find a way to get her away from Kaori. After thinking over the conversation Changmin had with the woman, he knew that she wasn’t going to be the type of person to just let the matter sit with a conversation. That was what made Changmin the most anxious, hoping he had enough time to interfere.
He looked out into the screaming crowd, diverting his eyes to down in front of him. Scanning the sea of reporters, he found the face he was after, taking a deep breath. Kaia didn’t look worse for wear, though Changmin wondered what exactly he should have been trying to decipher within her expression. Yunho nudged him and Changmin blinked rapidly, smiling weakly at Yunho and preparing for the first song. They hadn’t been given their signal yet, and so he blinked passed the harsh lights, gazing back at Kaia. An involuntary gasp left his system with the arrival of Kaori near Kaia, her eyes beckoning him to make a move. She knew she had found something to hold above his head, the power she now possessed expressed openly upon her porcelain features. Changmin was helpless to react, hearing the sound of WHY’s music finally start, forcing him to turn around and wait for the signal.
When he spun back around, Kaia’s eyes briefly caught his before falling away. She dashed off, and he clamped his eyelids shut, thrusting his arms out to the sides like an otherwise synchronised robot. Changmin had never wrestled with himself as much as he did throughout that performance, though he knew the only one who would pick up on his mistakes would be Yunho. It had almost become second nature to sing and dance without being completely aware, and Changmin was thankful that he wouldn’t cause damage to his reputation as an entertainer upon this stage. They moved onto Before U Go, and Changmin noticed Kaori was still watching on with a confident smile. He expressed his frustration through his dancing, not even caring about the ache in his weak wrist. The only thing that was on Changmin’s mind was getting off this stage.
They finished with B.U.T and with a bow, the already energetic crowd exploded with applause. Changmin didn’t wait for it to finish though, rushing off to the exit and bypassing staff members that held bottles of water and sweat towels. His focus darted about the activity backstage, wondering if he could find Kaia back here, but it was fruitless. He instantly went out into the Press bay, ignoring the fans screaming and searching for the spot he had found on the stage. The flashes of cameras were blinding him, and Changmin attempted to look through them, noticing the name on one of the girl’s passes around her neck. Smiling, he reached for her wrist and dragged her out.
“What the-”
“You come with me,” he instructed, dragging her back inside hastily and all the way to his dressing room. Changmin closed the door behind them and offered the brunette a chair to sit down in. Now that the lights weren’t blinding him as much, Changmin cringed lightly at the rash effort he had gone to. “I’m sorry for just grabbing you.”
“What the hell are you doing?!” his Manager questioned as he came through the door a moment later, Yunho following him. Yunho visibly relaxed and then ushered the irate man out of the room, telling him he needed to discuss something important.
“Uh, is there a reason you came for me?” the girl finally asked and Changmin nodded. “What?”
“Do you know Kaia Ashton?”
“She’s my colleague.” She tilted her head to the side. “She ran off when you were performing. Told me to stay and capture the rest of the data for the concert. I wanted to go after her, but my job entails me to be professional at events like these.”
“Can I borrow your phone?” She eyed Changmin warily but reached in her pocket all the same. He bowed lightly before punching Kaia’s number. The call connected after the second ring.
“Abby, I’m sorry for just leaving but I suddenly felt ill.”
“Where are you?” Changmin asked and heard the girl gasp. “Kaia, come on, where are you?”
“I don’t think I can see you Changmin, just leave me alone.”
“I’m going home, please come over, there’s something important I need to tell you.” Changmin took a deep breath. “It’s really important you come, okay?”
“I’m sorry.” She hung up and Changmin instantly recalled Kaia but she had already turned her phone off.
“Is everything okay?” Abby asked and Changmin shook his head, taking a seat heavily. “I uh, I know some details about you and Kaia because she discovered who I was dating and kept it secret for me. If I can help you in any way, I will.”
Changmin glanced at the girl and then smiled. “Actually that might be what I need.”
